ASL Global is proud to announce the successful completion of the Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA). SMETA is the most widely used social audit in the world, enabling businesses to assess their sites and suppliers to understand working conditions in their supply chain.

The SMETA 4-Pillar audit was conducted successfully across ASL Global sites by TUV Rhineland, following an ethical audit methodology which encompasses all aspects of responsible business practise, including the key areas of labour standards, health & safety, environment and business ethics, ensuring transparency and efficient information sharing throughout the process. These criteria were assessed across ASL sites, with the business receiving an excellent final report, containing overwhelmingly positive observations throughout. 

Lee Wai Hoong, ASL Global's Chief Compliance & Quality Officer, explained why SMETA is so important to the business "We want to ensure that both ASL and our suppliers, are working in an ethical and sustainable way. This audit supports the framework that we use to assess working conditions, and sends a strong signal about ASL's commitment to health & safety, decent working conditions and zero tolerance of human rights abuses such as child or forced labour, right through our supply chain".

ASL Global achieved outstanding results throughout the audit. Key strength areas such as protecting staff’s health & safety, upholding human rights and supporting local communities & the environment, demonstrating ASL’s position as a highly respectable and reliable business operating a robust, compliant supply chain. This position was reinforced by the lack of negative observations contained in the report.
