In 2019, ASL founded the [One World initiative](http://www.aslglobal.com/one-world/), a proactive sustainability strategy focused on reducing the company’s own carbon footprint and helping its customers to do the same. The initiative also includes a range of socially driven community activities which promote diversity & inclusion both within ASL and through its global supply chain. The role of Chief Sustainability Officer has been created to build on the company’s already established environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting model and ASL’s commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative. Emma Pomeroy will report directly into ASL Global’s Chairman, Alec Pettigrew, and lead a dedicated CSR team focused on the delivery of ESG targets and the development of innovative sustainable initiatives for ASL’s clients. Alec Pettigrew commented *“This is an important strategic appointment which reflects a genuine commitment to hold ourselves accountable. As a global sourcing business, sustainability through the supply chain is critically important to us, and to our clients. We regard the role of Chief Sustainability Officer as transformational. This is not about ticking boxes, its about building a vision for the future and shaping ASL Global into a truly sustainable business, uniquely positioned to drive the ESG agenda through the value chain on behalf of our clients”.* ![CSR ICON ONE WORLD POS 2C-1](https://blog.aslglobal.com/hs-fs/hubfs/CSR%20ICON%20ONE%20WORLD%20POS%202C-1.png?width=121&name=CSR%20ICON%20ONE%20WORLD%20POS%202C-1.png)Over the past three years, the One World sustainability strategy has delivered innovative initiatives such as a bespoke marketing product carbon calculator and significant plastic packaging reductions for some of ASL’s biggest clients, including Coca-Cola and Heineken. Since joining ASL in 2018, Emma Pomeroy has been an integral part of building this strategy and will continue to drive the initiative in her new role. Emma Pomeroy commented on her new role *“We’ve already achieved so much with One World, and now is the time to bring all that great work together into a comprehensive ESG reporting framework providing clarity, focus and purpose to ASL’s business objectives. I see my role as an enabler, building awareness and followship within our own business, and forging unique partnerships with key external stakeholders which both deliver on those objectives and support our client’s sustainability aspirations”.* Prior to joining ASL Global, Emma Pomeroy has worked in the marketing services industry for over 25 years in a variety of senior leadership roles including client relationship, procurement, marketing and CSR.
