ASL's team hit PSI at pace this year. The leading European trade show for the promotional product industry always offers a great opportunity to spot the latest trends, source new product ideas and catch up with suppliers & colleagues. Here's what we discovered at this year's show:
1. INTRODUCING COLOUR
In common with other recent European trade shows, we noticed a real trend towards the introduction of colour to 'natural' products.
No more boring plain jute bags, lots of vibrant colours adding interest and creating much more fresh-looking products.
2. COMPOSTABLE PRODUCTS
Sustainability remains a strong trend for promotional products, but there is a clear steer towards compostable (rather than recyclable) products this year. Innovative products such as paper lanyards and seedpaper carrier bags are much easier for consumers to dispose of in a sustainable way.
3. ECO PACKAGING
There are lots more environmentally friendly packaging options for products such as sunglasses. From water-soluble bags to kraft paper boxes, practical options for truly sustainable packaging solutions are broadening significantly.
We spotted some great individual products this year! Here's our favourites:
1. MESSAGE BEANS - we love these 'message beans' which grow into plants and keep their message for several weeks! Great way to keep your brand or message in front of customers for a sustained period of time.
2. RECYCLED BEACH TOWELS - offering a new life to post-consumer waste, these towels are made from upcycled marine plastic collected directly from the ocean floor. Even the production process is completely sustainable, harnessing solar power to drive the manufacturing processes.
3. BODY WALLET - OK, this one is a bit weird, we admit. But, it's a unique product and we think it would be pretty useful on the beach! Would you wear one this summer??
