Our ‘CSR Champions’ are the people who are really bringing ASL Global’s One World initiative to life. In 40 offices across 36 countries, the Champions help drive ASL towards the ambitious Sustainability Goals we’ve set ourselves.

ema1This month, we turn the spotlight on Emanuela Chiodaroli (CSR Champion for our Milan office in Italy) who has in fact been a champion of environmental & social causes for many years. She is also actively involved in a charity that collects clothes for people in need and supports the homeless in her local community.

Emanuela has been a great supporter of the One World initiative from the beginning. When asked about her thoughts on Sustainability she replied:

‘Sustainability is a trendy concept nowadays, but actually, it’s ancient and bring us back to the origins. For me, being sustainable means trying to re-build altogether a world where human beings and our community are strictly in balance with the earth, to protect resources, wellness and health – and, I am pretty sure, also prosperity! To properly and easily follow this flow, sustainability must become a daily lifestyle and, even more importantly, a deep desire.’

Our Italian team has been working on various sustainability-related activities for quite some time now. Everyone is very involved in sustainability and it has now become a way of living and thinking. The team has implemented many different sustainability activities in their office:

  • Socket with on/off switch: Our team requested this from their office Business Centre and it has now been supplied to all the offices in the building.
  • Minimization of waste: The team is a big supporter of the minimization of plastic & food waste. They have a waste sorting system in place to properly dispose of all waste and their business centre also has a food waste bin in a designated area. They avoid single use plastic products by only having reusable bottles and mugs in the office.

  • Reuse: Some of the Milan office furniture (e.g. a kitchen table) is up-cycled, having been purchased from a website that sells used furniture.
  • old3Bottle Lids: When plastic bottles cannot be avoided, all the lids are collected and given to a Charity Association who recycles them (these lids require a special recycling process) and uses the proceeds to help local charities.
  • Charity days: Every 1-2 weeks Emanuela and Giulia hold a charity evening for the homeless, gathering clothes and other items needed, and distribute them.
  • Energy efficiency: having a sustainable mind-set, the team is part of ASL’s company-wide initiative to improve our energy efficiency. The team are very proactive in activities that include switching off electronic devices after use and the office lights at the end of the business day, and being mindful of the office temperature.

Well done to Emanuela and the whole ASL Milan team, for being true CSR Champions!
